I never got to do back and biceps yesterday. I came down with a nasty migraine and just decided to rest the remainder of the day. I think it must be the weather changing back and forth so much, it's making me crazy sick! I think I may do back and biceps tomorrow instead of legs and back, since last week's back and biceps didn't go well, and I missed it this week. Between yoga, Kenpo and Plyo I'm pretty good on legs (in fact I can see AND feel the muscle coming back in my upper thighs I had in high school cheerleading), I really need to get my back and arms into shape so I think I'll swap tomorrow (must get rid of back fat...So. Gross.)
But I digress...
Today I did Yoga. I never look forward to how long and excruciating the first 45 minutes feels, but I always feel great after Yoga, and that I do look forward to. I still can't do crane, and I'm not even close to getting it, but I keep trying it every time.
Diet is good today, hard boiled eggs for breakfast with some juice (and YES, I eat the yolks so sue me), salad and no-carb meat-loaf for lunch using extra lean ground beef, water and some more water. Things are pretty good today. I've got a lean roast in the crock pot for dinner soaking with fat free cream of mushroom for my gravy. It's got carrots and potatoes in it. Potatoes will be one of my carbs for the day.
Nothing exciting but no drama...a perfect workout day.

Day 43-45
Saturday was day 43, start of week two of phase two for me. I did the chest, shoulders and triceps followed of course by ab ripper x. Since I got some 8 pound weights I was able to bump up the weight on a few of the exercises. I'm still feeling it three days later.
As far as day 43 of eating it wasn't too bad but wasn't spot on either. My husbands grandmother held a messianic passover seder at her home, so I had a little matzo ball soup and of course all the other stuff...but lunch and breakfast I did pretty good.
Day 44 I blew it all around, we had church in the morning and then we went on to Norman for the renaissance fair. We pulled through McDonalds drive through on the way and I could feel the grease sitting on my stomach. I immediately regretted my decision to indulge in a burger. There was a LOT of drama with the little ones, and by the time I got home I didn't feel one bit like cooking OR working out. We got a Papa Murphy's pizza and threw it in the oven that evening, and yes I ate more than I should of. I regretted this the rest of the evening.
So, to make up for yesterday I got up this morning (Day 45) and did my Plyo. I plan on hitting back and biceps tonight and ab ripper, but as for now I'm pretty wiped out. Eating is going well today. I'm desperately trying to get back on track. Hopefully I'll get my second burst of energy to make it through another workout.

Day 42
Rest day.
Sigh. I haven't done my stretching today because I've decided to take the afternoon off. Both little girls are sleeping so it gave me a chance to relax and re-watch that awesome episode of Lost this week....
I also decided to pack a picnic lunch and meet hubby at the park for lunch...we won't talk about what I ate though...I've done pretty bad today. I started out well, but kinda blew it mid day.
I had low sugar packet of oatmeal for breakfast with about a cup of 2% milk. I made pb&j sandwiches on whole grain bread for the picnic. I also took some low fat string cheese, almonds and cashews to munch on at the picnic for sides. I had a low fat granola bar. All this sounds pretty decent (other than the high sugar jelly) but I know there are some massive carbs in there that are adding up. Then I blew it even bigger, I saw in the top of the pantry little debbie swiss rolls. Damn you Little Debbie and your delicious chocolate calling my name...
Tonight hubby is grilling burgers and I'm making home - made fries. I guess this is my indulge day this week.

Day 41
Kenpo!
I love Kenpo, even though it is cardio, it's such a fun workout I tend to forget that my lungs are screaming and my body is praying for rest!
Kenpo started out rough, those leg stretches and lunges were burning after the horrific legs & back workout the day before. I thought "holy crap, I'm in for it today." However when I started throwing punches I was barely in a sweat. I was actually starting to understand why some people bitched and moaned that Kenpo wasn't strenuous enough for them. Then they started adding the kicks in and my heart rate soon began to skyrocket....ah there we go.
Still, overall today's cardio was a LOT easier than it had been in the past. Guess that's even MORE proof that I'm becoming fit!
Eating went pretty well today, for Breakfast I had a protein bar, for lunch I had a salad and some chicken breast, and then for snack some string cheese and nuts. Dinner was Penne Pasta casserole, which isn't too bad since I use whole wheat penne pasta and low fat mozzarella on the top! Problem is I'm SURE I over ate on dinner because it's one of my favorite meals.
Tomorrow is a rest day, where I SHOULD do Stretch X, but I'm just not certain I'll get around to it....we will see.

Day 40
Legs and Back.
I loathe this day. Big sigh as I put in the DVD, ready for a grueling hour...legs are just NOT my strong point.
To my surprise, I didn't HATE it. I didn't love it, but I truly felt like I accomplished something today. I was able to do the wall squats for the full time. Holy crap! That's freaking progress baby!!!!
I'm on cloud nine because of this.
For the first four sets of pull ups I went to the bar. I was able to do about 4-6 reps (assisted with a chair of course) of each one. I'm not sure my form is right though because I was feeling this more in my arms than in my back. So to make sure I'm working the right muscle group, for the last set I moved to the bands. Problem is I'm just not getting the burn with the bands that I want, so I'm kinda stuck....
Wanting to go do ab ripper X however I have a drooling sleeping baby on my shoulder right now, and If I go put her in bed, I'm sure to wake the sleeping two year old in the same room...ah the choices I have to make as a mom. For right now the DVD will remained paused and I'll start ab ripper here in a little bit.

Day 39
Today was Yoga. I managed to make it through all but the last eight minutes of the DVD before my toddler woke up. This is progress.
Wow, as much as I hate the boredom of the first 45 minutes of the Yoga DVD, it's all worth it in the end. I feel GREAT after Yoga, and I mean GREAT. I can't beleive I was subbing Cardio X for this the first few weeks. Wow was I totally stupid. I regret that decision.
Still can't do crane, or several of the other poses without toppling down like a deck of cards...oh well, that will come with time.
Eating great today, I had two eggs for breakfast with 1% milk (I just hate skim), a salad for lunch with chicken breast, a low-fat string cheese for a snack and 48 oz of water to drink. I'm REALLY bad at drinking enough water. Tonight we are supposed to go to Jump Zone for a birthday party. I'm hoping they have some salad and healthy options on their menu other than just pizza...
I went and picked up 8 and 10 pound dumbells, so next week I will be extremely prepared for the workouts!

Day 36-38
Day 36 (Saturday)
So today was my day to just jump back into it. It was chest, shoulders and triceps. I think this may be one of my favorite workouts. It's my favorite because 1. It's NOT cardio and 2. I REALLY feel great afterwards even though I'm sore. Let's me know I gave it my all. Ab ripper X went pretty well. It wasn't like the week before so I'm guessing I was having trouble because of me being sick.
Day 37 (Sunday)
Plyo hell once again. I HATE HATE HATE this workout. I don't think I will ever like it even when it is day 90. Legs are just NOT my thing. I pushed it though and worked out until I thought my heart would explode out of my chest (I GOTTA get myself a heart monitor). I'm still not doing the bonus rounds in Plyo, but I told my husband that by third month I plan to. That's my goal with the plyo (well that and doing the rock star hops without peeing myself every time....hey, I've had four kids people...)
Day 38 (Monday)
Back and Biceps. Today just was NOT happening. It started out bad and went to worse. I only have 5lb dumbells and those have been working for me just fine until I got to this one. My husband has a cheapy little set he got from Wal-Mart that can switch from 5 to 15 to 25. Problem is the 15 and 25 were too heavy. We kept having to stop the DVD every few minutes to mess with the weights. Tomorrow I head out and get myself an 8 and 10 pound set of weights. I should have just used the bands, but I have a hard time maintaining proper form with them and I had them set up over the door to do my pull ups. On TOP of all the drama with the weights, my kids were playing in the backyard at the time we were trying to work out. The two year old turned on the water hose and was getting herself wet and letting water into the house...then she stepped in dog poop and went on the trampoline...and, well, you get the picture. It was at that time I called it. We quit the DVD shortly after the towel pull ups.
Feeling pretty crummy today for not getting in a decent workout, but at least I pushed play. That's more than I did last week.

Day 35
This was my rest day and I took it off to recoup from that stomach virus I had the past two days. I'm starting to feel pretty flabby and this week is gonna catch up with me pretty big when I start up again.
Like I said before I will most likely extend this phase into an extra week to make sure I don't flake on my results. I've read a lot of blogs that have different advice. Some suggest to start all over again at phase 1 and start the 90 days from scratch when you get sick like I did, others suggested to just keep working out through the sickness (if possible, and I did on SOME days, I just couldn't on the stomach flu days). Others say to extend the period another week or so. That's the option I decided to go with. I just can't bear starting the 90 days all over again!

Day 33 & 34
I got that nasty stomach bug on top of this horrible cold/flu that I've had, so I've been sidelined again for the past two days. I wanted to work out, I just can't. My stomach is too queasy.
I think what I'll do is extend this phase 2 by an entire week to make up for my week of being sick, so my 90 days will turn into 97 or so....
I'm under the 150's now (down to 148) though...lost three pounds due to this stupid stomach flu...

Day 30, 31 & 32
Once again got behind on my blogging (and my workouts). It's not as bad as you may think though.
Day 30
This would have been Sunday, and it should have been Plyo, but I only got four hours of sleep the night before (we had a vomiting incident with my six month old and had to call the ambulance, it was a total fiasco night, but thankfully she is fine). Therefore I skipped my workout on Sunday to try and recoup from a traumatic evening the night before.
Day 31
Today I took my thirty day photos. Good Lord this day couldn't have come any sooner. All my worries and fears about my progress were relieved. I have been loosing weight BUT gaining muscle (and driving my husband crazy with my moaning and bitching for the past thirty days). You can definitely see improvement in my photos and for that I'm so thankful. My stomach has gone down, I'm loosing that second chin and lunch lady arms and that ugly back fat I had (oh God did I just admit on the internet that I have "back fat?") are going away gradually! It gave me new motivation and I've been on this high ever since! My hubby was in "told ya so" mode. He has been telling me he could see a difference, but I just didn't believe him, I had to see the proof for myself. My plan this day was to do plyo in the morning to make up for the day before then do back and biceps in the afternoon. Problem with this plan was that plyo completely wore me out. I think it's a combination of the rest week then jumping back into it complied with the fact I am still sick. I can't seem to shake this black plague of death that has come over me...
Day 32
Plan for the day, Yoga in the morning, then do back and biceps in the afternoon to make up for yesterday. My two year old threw up this morning and was in complete meltdown mode, so I only got through 45 minutes of the Yoga until I had to stop because I had a two year old using my downward dog as a tunnel. Poor kid as I was doing the leg lift and bringing it through, I totally kneed her in the head as she was making a pass through her "tunnel." I figured it was time to shut down the Yoga for the day because stopping the DVD every five minutes to deal with the household traumas can't clear your mind of distractions and keep you in the present. Obviously this was NOT working today. I was hoping to at least catch up with back and biceps this afternoon, but after a three hour grocery shopping trip, I came home feeling like I got hit by a train. Body aches and fever were back.
Tomorrow is legs and back, so I doubt I'm gonna get back and biceps in this week which is a bummer, but there isn't much I can do about it at this point with the bubonic plague making it's waves through my household....

Day 29
So, today I started week 5, I know my days don't exactly match up where they should but I had to readjust my schedule to fit my family's needs better. Still, I'm 29 days into the program though!
So, I woke up and decided to FORCE myself back into the land of the living. I cleaned up the house a bit and decided to work out while the baby was napping. Today was "Chest, Shoulders and Triceps." Wow. What a workout. I really pushed myself and my arms are still shaking two hours later. I'm glad I did the workout in the morning because my sickness is coming back with a vengeance this afternoon. Also, both my little ones are sick, so I only got half way through Ab ripper X when the youngest woke up in full meltdown mode.
Ab ribber was MUCH more difficult today. I felt like I was gaining some ground on it, but today was a complete setback. I had trouble with stuff I was breezing through in week 3. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that I was sick or the fact that I had a rest week from Ab Ripper X and now going back into it my muscles are "confused." If the latter is true, then I guess the workout is doing what it is supposed to, although my stomach still is my biggest problem area (I guess I have my work cut out for me after having four kids though).
At least I worked out today! Tomorrow is Plyo and I'm not looking forward to having that one back in the schedule.

Day 28
I woke up feeling MUCH more human today and had every intention of doing Yoga today to make up for my sick day yesterday. We won't even discuss what I ate for dinner yesterday (although it was delicious, and fatty and full of bacon and cheese but I was sick and therefore I get to eat whatever I want).
About an hour after waking up I started cleaning the kitchen (the aftermath of mom being sick is a kitchen that was pretty disastrous). This totally wore me out, and I've been pretty much couch-bound the remainder of the day. Hubby took the boys and has gone backpacking this weekend. He may not be doing P90X with me, but I think him hiking several miles will be a decent enough workout for him.
As for me, I'm still sick and I plan on drowning my sorrows today in Pizza Rolls and cheesecake because frankly I don't feel like standing on my feet and chopping vegetables or eating like a rabbit. I know I will hate myself for this tomorrow, but for now I need comfort, and comfort is my sweatpants and a box of Chips Ahoy. So tonight I plan to drug myself up with Advil Cold and Sinus and Afrin and watch Breakfast at Tiffany's with my girls, and I'm not even going to think about P90x and Dreya Weber's perfect abs and Tony Horton's ken doll hair.

Today I'm supposed to be doing Yoga, but I've come down with a nasty virus, it's either a bad cold/flu or sinus infection.
I guess I'll be taking this day off and laying in bed.

Day 26
Today I thought it was Yoga, but as I went to put the DVD in something didn't feel right. It didn't seem normal to have Stretch X yesterday then Yoga today, so I went and took a last minute peek at the fitness guide. Boy, I was wrong! Today was core. Crap. Crap. Crap. I had my mind all set for Yoga. Core sucks.
After a big sigh I went and grabbed my tennis shoes and threw them on and decided I was just going to do my very best. Core killed me the other day and I could only get through about 60-70% of the routines. Today though I was able to do about 90% of them all. I'm still hopelessly pathetic at prison push ups and Drea rolls, but everything else I did.
I. AM. EXHAUSTED.
I'm still completely pissed off I'm not loosing weight. I know I need to let go of the scale, but I just can't help obsessing over that number that flashes at me the same EVERY day.
Did I mention that I was exhausted?

Day 23-25
I got backed up on the blogging again so I'm putting three days of my journal into one.
Day 23 was Sunday and that was Core Synergistics. This was the first time that I'd ever done this workout and it was pretty rough, my core is NOT a strong area for me and after having four kids I'm kinda flabby in the gut (this is my problem area, well ONE of my problem areas...). Of course we have Mr. Perfect on this video (I think his name is Adam, he is the dude in the ab videos that makes me sick. He is so perfect I call him Mr. Perfect).
So, this video consisted various forms of torture such as the prison cell push up, the sphinx push up, the Drea roll and more...by the time I finished my face was beat red and I was drenched in sweat from head to toe. Wow, I'm still SO out of shape....
Day 24 - Kenpo. This is still a good workout for me, I ran out of steam toward the end and I was dragging a bit at the end. I finished though. It was my weigh in day and I still haven't budged a pound. It's starting to piss me off quite a bit. I know, I know, I'm NOT supposed to look at a scale because I'm building muscle, but geesh, my husband has lost 13 pounds! I've been sticking to the diet and working my ass off! It's starting to get frustrating.
Day 25 - Stretch X - This was a good easy day of stretching, my body is not as sore anymore after the stretching. Feeling like a fat ass today and I'm certain it's because I haven't drank enough water today. Days I DON'T work out leave me feeling all pudgy and gross. Stretching just doesn't feel like a workout for me...If I don't loose a pound soon I may just die.
Perfect).

Day 22
So, after the first week of Yoga we decided to substitute it for Cardio X instead of Yoga. The more research I did and the more I read on the program, I realized that this probably wasn't the best idea. Yoga was obviously in this program for a specific reason, and since I'm not the one who designed the program, nor am I a fitness expert by any means, I decided to give the Yoga another try and stick with it.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The first time I did the Yoga I gave up after about 35 minutes of repetitive plank, upward dog, downward dog, runners pose, warrior one, warrior two...I just got too bored with it.
If I would have kept the DVD going for another ten minutes I would have realized that it got MUCH better. I stretched muscles I had no idea I even had! I couldn't get through all the poses, but I felt SO much better after doing this workout. I was relaxed, limber and I felt wonderful. I'm never omitting Yoga X again. I'm still not a fan of the first 45 minutes of repetitiveness, however I can see the benefits of this part of the program.
Diet wise I had a fantastic day and stuck to the program 100%. Today was an excellent day of feeling completely on track!
My goal at day 90 is to do "The Crane". Seriously, coolest thing I've ever seen!

Day 21
Today technically should be my rest day, however because I've slacked and missed a few days this week I did Kenpo today to try and get back on track. I was not looking forward to it because I'm so sore from doing Legs and Back yesterday. I despise that workout. Still, it wasn't as bad yesterday as it was the week before which tells me my body is getting stronger. However I still can't do the wall squat for more than ten-twenty seconds without my legs completely collapsing underneath me. Those things suck.
My legs are still shaky today, so Kenpo seemed rougher to me today than it did last week. I got my heart rate up and I'm sitting here too exhausted and sore to even move to take a shower yet.
Here is a sample of what I did today.
Some people say that Kenpo is too easy for them, but since cardio is my weak area, this is a pretty intense workout for me. I SO prefer the resistance days over the cardio, but I know cardio is essential to my weight loss!
I'm beat. Tomorrow starts week 4 which is supposedly a "rest" week, but it is mainly a rest from the resistance, so it's mostly cardio. I have a feeling I have a really intense week ahead of me! For now, it's time to hit the shower after some cuddle time with the child that ruined my body (aka the reason I'm doing P90X). She was worth every pound, and can still make me smile like this after a grueling workout.

Day 18, 19 & 20
Confession, I have TOTALLY sucked at P90X this week. Tuesday night my son had a school program and I also had school during the day, so I never found the time to work out, so I skipped what would have been Yoga (or Cardio X - we substitute). I felt crappy enough about that, but then I also missed yesterday which would have been day 19 because of some issues that came up with my kids.
Bleh. I feel SO awful. I hate the way I feel when I mess up. So, today I did legs and back followed by ab ripper x (what I should have done yesterday), and tomorrow I will do Kenpo on what SHOULD have been my rest day to make up for what I've lost this week.
As far as my workout today I really worked hard at it to try and make up for how much of a slacker I've been. Ab ribber ex is still tough, but I'm getting through about 90% of the exercises now! I get stronger every time I keep working out. I still can't see results, and the scale tells me I haven't budged one pound, so that's discouraging, but I still plan to keep at it. I looked at my photos yesterday from three weeks ago and I seem to look better in the mirror, but mirrors are deceiving. My clothes feel looser though. The photos give me motivation to keep going. They are just pure evil.
Hubby and I had a long conversation about it and us working out after his work and before our dinner just isn't working. We have four small kids and us trying to work out with them running amuck in the household just isn't jiving with our family life. The inmates end up running the asylum why we work out. Something is definitely off here.
So, we decided to do our best and hit as many days as possible, and stick with the diet. I may have to work out while he is at work and the older kids are at school and the little ones nap, and he can work out while I cook dinner and deal with the children. Weekends we can work out together. It stinks not being able to do it at the same time, but we have to figure out a schedule that keeps us on track, and still keeps our household in order!

Day 17
After totally blowing it over the weekend today I'm in total recovery mode. I started out the day with a bowl of multi grain Cheerios (that will be my carb for the day today), and two glasses of water. I haven't been drinking as much water as I know I should and that's been hurting me.
Here is what I've eaten today
snack - carrots
lunch - cup of vegetable soup and string cheese
snack - almonds and cashews
dinner - spinach quiche w/fruit and a croissant (yes, I had a SECOND carb today)
then recovery drink with protein bar
I'm only sitting at about 1300 calories for the day, which is WAY under what I'm supposed to be at. I really need to work on getting more protein in my diet daily if I want to build muscle.
Tonight was shoulders and arms. I LOVE this workout. I brought it today and I'm doing more and more reps each week. Ab ripper is going well also, each week I'm able to do a little bit more, so I know it's working. Tomorrow would be a yoga day, but hubby doesn't like the yoga so instead we substitute it with Cardio X. It's better than plyo, but still not one of my faves. The cardio nights are KILLER.
I feel MUCH better about my progress today. I feel like I'm back on track.

Day 15 & 16
Day 15-
I'm two days behind in my workout journal, mainly because I didn't feel like coming on here and being honest about how badly I did this weekend. I'm combining my weekend journal into one.
Saturday we took a trip to Tulsa to take a look around the aquarium, and by the time we got home it was after 8pm, we were too exhausted to exercise, so we skipped that day (we were supposed to do chest and back followed by ap ripper). We also ate out that night, and I tried to do good at Applebee's by getting grilled chicken and steamed veggies, but not working out that day made me feel lazy and doughy.
Day 16 -
I started the day with a bowl of oatmeal, because I'm in desperate need for some good grains, and I'm having trouble getting good fiber in with the lack of carbs. I won a free dinner at a Mexican restaurant from our church, and hubby and I decided to eat that for lunch to save some cash, however it totally blew our diet.
That night doing Plyo, I could totally feel what that dinner had done to my body and I was hurting pretty bad. I made it through Plyo feeling MUCH better about myself after working out again, and swore to myself to not eat that poorly again. It just hurts my body to eat so well through the week to just blow it on the weekend. Also, it hurts my workouts because after not eating properly I run out of steam a LOT faster during the exercises.
I'm not down any weight this week (no big surprise there considering I didn't stick to the diet well), however last night while stretching after Plyo I did notice my calf muscles are looking really nice! I know this working out and eating right is paying off, I just really need to step it up if I want to see major results!
"Just do your best and forget the rest!" (just keep telling myself that)
