I'm totally slacking on the blog, but in my defense I've had a LOT of drama this week.
So, Wednesday day 82-Legs and Back followed by AB ripper X. Still struggling through the workouts. Feel like I've taken two steps forward and three steps back...but at least I did it!
Thursday should have been Kenpo. This day my father who was headed here from Arizona broke down in the middle of New Mexico. He made it to Amarillo, TX where my husband met him and helped him the remainder of the way here to OKC. Needless to say that day I didn't get a workout because of all the family drama.
Friday - Rest Day. I also graduated from college this day. Woo hoo! Go me! Finals are next week. It's a bummer I have to go back after the graduation ceremony, but at least I'm at the finish line.
After looking at my graduation photos, I felt really disappointed in myself. I just looked fat in them. My arms still look SO chubby. I feel after working out as much as I have been that I should be looking a LOT better. I know I've been slacking these past two weeks as far as hitting all the workouts, and staying on track with the diet. This has not helped me one bit.
Today, Saturday was Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. This one was weird. It is usually one of my favorites, but what was odd about it is in some exercises I did better than I normally do and some I couldn't do as many reps as I did the last time. I did ab ripper and made it through ALL the V up roll ups, and did 30 mason twists. I normally can only get through 20, and have to rest after the first ten.
I'm considering extending this phase by two weeks, since I've slacked so much the past two. I'm also considering just finishing up this phase like normal, then starting all over again but doing lean which from what I understand is mostly cardio...still can't make up my mind. All I know is I'm getting burnt out.
Tomorrow is mothers day, and as much as I'd love to rest I just can't justify missing Plyo for a THIRD week in a row. I really need to hit plyo tomorrow as much as I hate it. We will see how it goes....

Day 56-58
Day 56 was a rest day, and I was going to try and make up Kenpo from the day before but I ended up watching my gorgeous little niece that day, it was a trade off I was willing to take!
Day 57 (Saturday) began my phase 2 "rest" week. Funny thing is the "rest" weeks are always harder on me because they are really not a rest, but just a rest from the weights and resistance. This means cardio and more cardio, which is where I totally suck. Yesterday though was Yoga and I still can't begin to say enough positive things about Yoga. My 8 year old son sat and watched me do yoga. He tripped out at some of the moves (especially crane, which I'm still not able to do yet, but I'm getting closer). He was a sweetie, he wanted to jump in and help me when I started to tumble. He said "I'm afraid you will get hurt mom!" I explained that I would be just fine, and that me falling over every now and again is normal.
I just can't get over how freaking awesome I feel when I'm done with Yoga. It is truly like a massage of the central nervous system and it's amazing. I did the "ohm's" at the end for the first time. I felt pretty silly doing it but I felt great afterwards (and it really isn't a crazy cult thing, it's just massaging your vocal chords and stuff). My son got a huge kick from the ohms.
Day 58 (Sunday). I did core this morning. It totally kicked my ass. I think I was sweating more than I ever did in plyo, and I'm not sure how. Core totally wiped me out.
I have a confession to make. I had donuts for breakfast. I shouldn't have because I felt just awful afterwards. I also had pizza and wings the night before. Then the night before that it was my anniversary and I went to Macaroni grill and had very fattening pasta and cheesecake. I have to admit, I have SUCKED on my diet this week. It's like two meals a day I can stick to it then I just completely BLOW it. Thankfully I haven't gained any, and I'm still getting plenty of compliments from my hubby on how I'm looking lately. I went and saw some family members today that I haven't seen since I was 9 months pregnant with my daughter back in August (that's when I was 193 pounds and looking like a swollen beached whale in a black and white dress at my brother in law's wedding. Dear God what was I thinking wearing black and white when I was THAT big?) Anyhow, family members, today, back on track now....they kept saying how skinny I looked! ME? SKINNY? REALLY? Wow. I think I was on cloud nine the rest of the afternoon.

Day 41
Kenpo!
I love Kenpo, even though it is cardio, it's such a fun workout I tend to forget that my lungs are screaming and my body is praying for rest!
Kenpo started out rough, those leg stretches and lunges were burning after the horrific legs & back workout the day before. I thought "holy crap, I'm in for it today." However when I started throwing punches I was barely in a sweat. I was actually starting to understand why some people bitched and moaned that Kenpo wasn't strenuous enough for them. Then they started adding the kicks in and my heart rate soon began to skyrocket....ah there we go.
Still, overall today's cardio was a LOT easier than it had been in the past. Guess that's even MORE proof that I'm becoming fit!
Eating went pretty well today, for Breakfast I had a protein bar, for lunch I had a salad and some chicken breast, and then for snack some string cheese and nuts. Dinner was Penne Pasta casserole, which isn't too bad since I use whole wheat penne pasta and low fat mozzarella on the top! Problem is I'm SURE I over ate on dinner because it's one of my favorite meals.
Tomorrow is a rest day, where I SHOULD do Stretch X, but I'm just not certain I'll get around to it....we will see.

Day 36-38
Day 36 (Saturday)
So today was my day to just jump back into it. It was chest, shoulders and triceps. I think this may be one of my favorite workouts. It's my favorite because 1. It's NOT cardio and 2. I REALLY feel great afterwards even though I'm sore. Let's me know I gave it my all. Ab ripper X went pretty well. It wasn't like the week before so I'm guessing I was having trouble because of me being sick.
Day 37 (Sunday)
Plyo hell once again. I HATE HATE HATE this workout. I don't think I will ever like it even when it is day 90. Legs are just NOT my thing. I pushed it though and worked out until I thought my heart would explode out of my chest (I GOTTA get myself a heart monitor). I'm still not doing the bonus rounds in Plyo, but I told my husband that by third month I plan to. That's my goal with the plyo (well that and doing the rock star hops without peeing myself every time....hey, I've had four kids people...)
Day 38 (Monday)
Back and Biceps. Today just was NOT happening. It started out bad and went to worse. I only have 5lb dumbells and those have been working for me just fine until I got to this one. My husband has a cheapy little set he got from Wal-Mart that can switch from 5 to 15 to 25. Problem is the 15 and 25 were too heavy. We kept having to stop the DVD every few minutes to mess with the weights. Tomorrow I head out and get myself an 8 and 10 pound set of weights. I should have just used the bands, but I have a hard time maintaining proper form with them and I had them set up over the door to do my pull ups. On TOP of all the drama with the weights, my kids were playing in the backyard at the time we were trying to work out. The two year old turned on the water hose and was getting herself wet and letting water into the house...then she stepped in dog poop and went on the trampoline...and, well, you get the picture. It was at that time I called it. We quit the DVD shortly after the towel pull ups.
Feeling pretty crummy today for not getting in a decent workout, but at least I pushed play. That's more than I did last week.

Day 23-25
I got backed up on the blogging again so I'm putting three days of my journal into one.
Day 23 was Sunday and that was Core Synergistics. This was the first time that I'd ever done this workout and it was pretty rough, my core is NOT a strong area for me and after having four kids I'm kinda flabby in the gut (this is my problem area, well ONE of my problem areas...). Of course we have Mr. Perfect on this video (I think his name is Adam, he is the dude in the ab videos that makes me sick. He is so perfect I call him Mr. Perfect).
So, this video consisted various forms of torture such as the prison cell push up, the sphinx push up, the Drea roll and more...by the time I finished my face was beat red and I was drenched in sweat from head to toe. Wow, I'm still SO out of shape....
Day 24 - Kenpo. This is still a good workout for me, I ran out of steam toward the end and I was dragging a bit at the end. I finished though. It was my weigh in day and I still haven't budged a pound. It's starting to piss me off quite a bit. I know, I know, I'm NOT supposed to look at a scale because I'm building muscle, but geesh, my husband has lost 13 pounds! I've been sticking to the diet and working my ass off! It's starting to get frustrating.
Day 25 - Stretch X - This was a good easy day of stretching, my body is not as sore anymore after the stretching. Feeling like a fat ass today and I'm certain it's because I haven't drank enough water today. Days I DON'T work out leave me feeling all pudgy and gross. Stretching just doesn't feel like a workout for me...If I don't loose a pound soon I may just die.

Day 22
So, after the first week of Yoga we decided to substitute it for Cardio X instead of Yoga. The more research I did and the more I read on the program, I realized that this probably wasn't the best idea. Yoga was obviously in this program for a specific reason, and since I'm not the one who designed the program, nor am I a fitness expert by any means, I decided to give the Yoga another try and stick with it.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The first time I did the Yoga I gave up after about 35 minutes of repetitive plank, upward dog, downward dog, runners pose, warrior one, warrior two...I just got too bored with it.
If I would have kept the DVD going for another ten minutes I would have realized that it got MUCH better. I stretched muscles I had no idea I even had! I couldn't get through all the poses, but I felt SO much better after doing this workout. I was relaxed, limber and I felt wonderful. I'm never omitting Yoga X again. I'm still not a fan of the first 45 minutes of repetitiveness, however I can see the benefits of this part of the program.
Diet wise I had a fantastic day and stuck to the program 100%. Today was an excellent day of feeling completely on track!
My goal at day 90 is to do "The Crane". Seriously, coolest thing I've ever seen!

Day 21
Today technically should be my rest day, however because I've slacked and missed a few days this week I did Kenpo today to try and get back on track. I was not looking forward to it because I'm so sore from doing Legs and Back yesterday. I despise that workout. Still, it wasn't as bad yesterday as it was the week before which tells me my body is getting stronger. However I still can't do the wall squat for more than ten-twenty seconds without my legs completely collapsing underneath me. Those things suck.
My legs are still shaky today, so Kenpo seemed rougher to me today than it did last week. I got my heart rate up and I'm sitting here too exhausted and sore to even move to take a shower yet.
Here is a sample of what I did today.
Some people say that Kenpo is too easy for them, but since cardio is my weak area, this is a pretty intense workout for me. I SO prefer the resistance days over the cardio, but I know cardio is essential to my weight loss!
I'm beat. Tomorrow starts week 4 which is supposedly a "rest" week, but it is mainly a rest from the resistance, so it's mostly cardio. I have a feeling I have a really intense week ahead of me! For now, it's time to hit the shower after some cuddle time with the child that ruined my body (aka the reason I'm doing P90X). She was worth every pound, and can still make me smile like this after a grueling workout.
